Pumps for Mining
Efficient and robust pumping equipment for the mining industry
Today’s mining industry faces many tough challenges. Its importance lies in the fact that it is the source of minerals essential for the production of everyday items. On the other hand, this industry faces a volatile commodities market and increasing energy costs. Mining companies must be efficient, productive and profitable, all while adhering to environmental and safety regulations.
Whether on the surface or underground, mining operations require highly-engineered and reliable pumping equipment; from water supply and distribution, to the circulation of process water and chemical solutions, Ruhrpumpen pumps can endure even the most abrasive conditions found in mines thanks to their robust designs manufactured in industry-leading materials.
Pumps for most mining operations and mineral processing
- Raw water supply and transfer
A reliable water supply is very important for mining operations. Our split case and vertical pumps can transfer and distribute water from different sources (e.g. groundwater, surface water (rivers and lakes) and seawater).
- Mine dewatering and groundwater control
Our horizontal and vertical pumps can operate in the control and management of surface water and groundwater to allow mining operations in relatively dry conditions.
- Wastewater treatment
Pumps for the management and treatment of water discharged from drainage, effluent and sewage derived from mining, allowing it to re-enter processes and reducing the need for raw water.
- Process water
Pumps for circulating and distributing process water especially in mines with a negative water balance and where conservation of water is of vital importance.
- Dust control
An inevitable result of mining operations, dust can be controlled with water spray systems powered with our pressure booster pump models.
Our vertical pump models can be integrated on a pump flotation system (barge).
Designed to meet the demanding mining conditions, the floating barges can be constructed fully in polyethylene (HDPE) or can be a hybrid of stainless steel with polyethylene floats. The assembly of the pump allows the suction to be close to the surface, thus avoiding the aspiration of solids that settle in deep areas of recovered water tanks, leach pools and tailings ponds.
Construction materials
Pumping of highly corrosive liquids and the handling of fluids with abrasive particles in mining operations require a careful selection of materials. Our pumps can be manufactured in metallurgies such as:
- Stainless steel
- Duplex and Super Duplex
- Alloy 20
- Titanium
- Zirconium
- Inconel
- Hastelloy
